Left ventricular non-compaction cardiomyopathy (LVNC)
Non-compaction cardiomyopathy (NCCM) / left ventricular non‑compaction (LVNC) is characterised by prominent myocardial trabeculations with deep intertrabecular recesses and a bilayered myocardium (non‑compacted and compacted). Modern cardiomyopathy frameworks, including the , increasingly emphasise that NCCM/LVNC should not be regarded as a distinct cardiomyopathy, but rather as a morphological phenotype that can occur across multiple genetic and acquired cardiomyopathies.
This phenotypic interpretation is further supported by contemporary reviews showing that NCCM/LVNC may represent a convergence phenotype influenced by genetics, developmental biology, loading conditions, ancestry, and sex.
