Sinus node disease
Sinus node dysfunction (SND) affects the sinoatrial node, which regulates heart rate, and may be caused by age-related factors or genetic factors. Genetic forms of SND are less common but clinically significant because they often occur at a younger age and may be caused by various genes, complicating diagnosis. In most cases, inheritance follows an autosomal-dominant pattern, although X‑linked, recessive, or complex genetic mechanisms may also be involved in rarer cases. Genetic causes can be clearly identified in fewer than 25% of idiopathic or familial cases.
