Overview
Factor XIII deficiency is caused by deficient activity of coagulation factor XIII, the fibrin-stabilising plasma transglutaminase, leading to a lifelong bleeding tendency. Severe disease typically presents in neonates with umbilical cord bleeding and is associated with intracranial haemorrhage and recurrent miscarriage.
