Overview
Moyamoya disease is a chronic cerebrovascular disorder characterised by stenosis and occlusion of the terminal internal carotid arteries and abnormal collateral vessel networks at the base of the brain. “Moyamoya” refers to the characteristic angiographic findings of tiny vessels resembling a “puff of smoke”. It is a major cause of ischaemic and haemorrhagic stroke.
