Myofibrillar myopathies (MFMs) refer to a clinically and genetically heterogeneous group of inherited skeletal muscle disorders defined by a characteristic histopathological pattern of myofibrillar disintegration originating at the Z-disk. MFMs can arise from genetic and, less commonly, other causes; this page focuses on the genetic forms.
