PGx statin
Statins (HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors) are first-line lipid-lowering drugs, but tolerability and the risk of statin-associated musculoskeletal symptoms vary between patients. Hepatic uptake of statins depends on the OATP1B1 transporter encoded by SLCO1B1, and rosuvastatin handling additionally depends on the ABCG2 efflux transporter. This analysis determines SLCO1B1 and ABCG2 genotype and reports the transporter-function status that influences statin plasma exposure and myopathy risk.
