Our Team Explains: Mosaicism

Mosaicism is a biological phenomenon in which a person has two or more genetically different sets of cells. Although mosaicism may have no effect, it could also lead to genetic disorders and even cause miscarriages. The level of mosaicism, the affected chromosome, and various other factors determine the person’s symptoms and their severity.

In this video, our team explains what is mosaicism, when and how it occurs, as well as how it can be detected.

Topics covered in this video include:

  • Causes of mosaicism
  • Mosaicism in humans and nature
