Genetic bleeding disorders are a group of diseases caused by genetic variants that affect blood clotting. The best known of these include hemophilia and von Willebrand disease, in which specific coagulation factors are impaired.

Symptoms

These diseases lead to an increased tendency to bleed, which can manifest itself in frequent bruising, nosebleeds, prolonged bleeding after injuries or surgical procedures.

Treatment

Treatment usually involves the administration of the missing coagulation factors and preventive measures to avoid bleeding.
